Default Mounting a bipod farther forward with a short quad rail

I'm looking to outfit my first ar with a bipod my rifle has a colt 6940 upper so the short length quad rail is part of the upper

I was wondering if there would be anyway to mount a bipod closer to my muzzle perhaps someone makes a little stretch of picitinny rail with a mounting clamp on top?

Never used a bipod before but I'm thinking closer to the muzzle is better because all my wiggled will be less exaggerated....
But maybe it's not a huge deal and I'm over thinking it?

    Thanks

You could get an extended rail and still use the FSB. MI comes to mind....

They also make a short piece of pic rail that attaches to the bottom of the FSB, although it won’t get you much more distance.....

You could also hack off the FSB and put a longer 13” or 15” rail.

Overall, I’d skip the bipod on a rail that short....

The 6940 is monolithic no changing out the handguards.

OP people make contraptions like you speak of, but they are wonky as shit. You are better off for range use using a set of quality bags or if you really need a field bipod you kind of have to deal with the short area to work with.

It may look a little wonky but you could get a mount riser for an AR15 and clamp it on the bottom of your rail. Then attached the bipod to that. It won't giver you tons more move forward but it will be better than what you have now.

Yeah I even found some longer ones on Amazon that was exactly what I was thinking but before you mentioned in my Google game wasn't up to par

So I may rig it up with a qd attachment or I may skip the extention at first and see how it goes

    Thanks

I’ve used the same upper with a bipod before. It worked just fine for me. I’m sure further down could be better but as long as you get a nice bipod you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.
