The strength of the GOA comes from being well connected to the political process, and having good information from people involved on the inside.
They are often well informed about a bill before it is released.
When a bill or draft is released the GOA has their people examine it as quickly as possible.

One of the reasons the GOA is effective is because they understand the political process, and they do not allow elected representatives to hide within obscure procedures.
They are able to tell their membership exactly what politicians are doing and why they are doing it.
The GOA does this better than any other gun rights group that I have seen.
