Question for 1911 lovers
Both are 5". No plans on adding anything under the barrel. planning on using as a carry and plinking piece
A Remington R1 stainless Enhanced for around $795 - New
or
a Sig Sauer TACOPS with Pachmayr grips $1100 - used, but I cannot detect ANY wear inside or outside
Not big on the stainless R1 but action is super smooth and sits well in my hand
Sig is a black beauty, feels great but another $300 ..
What do you 1911 folks have to say about either or bothLast edited by Parrisk; March 23rd, 2018 at 11:58 AM.

Re: Question for 1911 lovers
I don’t like either but I’d take the sig. Remington has been clunking big time on all their latest designs

Re: Question for 1911 lovers
I have owned both so I am not being sarcastic. Buy one colt and spend the rest on ammo and do both with it!
My r1 was enhanced, meh it will certainly be a plinker.
I had a scorpion and liked it, but that price does not seem very good from what I have seen. Especially for a used gun.

Re: Question for 1911 lovers
The Remington’s were super cheap at one point and people were bitching about their quality. I’m not a sig fan but their 1911s are pretty nice. I have a colt competition model that I enjoy and I think they’re going for somewhere around $800 new with some good features like adjustable sights, fiber optic front, trigger guard under cut and g10 grips with a match grade barrel.
Go head, skin it. Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens.

Re: Question for 1911 lovers
The Ruger SR1911 can be found for the same price as that Remmy and is all around much better.
I also second the lack of Remington quality...if all you have is the two to choose from get the Sig.

Re: Question for 1911 lovers
sig goes with some tight tolerances, sometimes too tight.
all the Tacops models I've shot run great.
I used my dremel on my barrel bushing on my 5" scorpion last week . I'd really just like to toss the whole thing into the furnace and take it on the chin.
IMHO, shop around for a new or used full size RIA 1911.a slow death awaits you,but not before love reminds you that there is good in you

Re: Question for 1911 lovers
If I had to choose the two I would pick sig hands down.
If you can, try and find a used Springfield operator 1911. I have one and it's a perfectly made 1911 and the prices are within your original range

Re: Question for 1911 lovers
IMO buy the Sig. I think all guns are an investment. In the long run the Sig will be worth far more than the Remington even used.
Aggies Coach Really ??? Take off the tin foil bro.

Re: Question for 1911 lovers
I'll echo the above. Way too much for a TACOPS. There's two on AR15.com running $700. Might want to check there.
As for the R1, pass.
If it were me, I'd look for a used Sig at a much better price or a Colt--they're still good.I'm only here for the wood c-rings.
