What would be the advantage of storing it loaded?

You don't have to unload it.

The only reason I'd do it is for the cool factor. It's always pretty badass in the movies when they go to the bank to retrieve a fake passport, cash and a handgun.

Correct me if I am wrong (no doubt this crowd will).... As I understand it, ObamaCare gave the fed god (IRS) the ability to demand access any safety deposit box, at any time, and for any reason. They may confiscate any gold, silver, or firearms that are in the box.

The scenario is that a bad guy forces you to go to the bank and empty your security box. You then pull out the loaded gun and defend yourself. But in the movies, the bad guy is too smart and makes you stop before opening the box, then he does it himself and finds the gun. That's when he finds out you have a detonator set to explode when the box is opened. Too many James Bond movies.

It's obvious, he thought it was unloaded and he pulled the trigger to make sure.

Correct, but not because of O...IIRC it has been that way for some time. Plus, if you have stuff in the bank's box, you are at their mercy to retrieve your belongings...
