Re: Do You Want $500 NFA Tax Stamps?
The best chance we have of ensuring that rights remain protected is ensuring that they are exercised routinely by the largest possible number of people. This instills personal investment in and concern for that right, thus making it that much harder to infringe or vote away.
While I submit that the entire NFA is unconstitutional, it is in all of our best interests to ensure that as many people as possible have a chance to own NFA items (most of which are not the machine guns you mention). The goal should be to minimize the number of people who say "Who cares? That doesn't apply to me." Even if it is affordable to you and me, many others will be priced out of the market, and the total number of our fellow citizens who are personally invested in the preservation of that right would be diminished.
One for all, all for one.I am not a lawyer.

Re: Do You Want $500 NFA Tax Stamps?
This sort of increased tax to the Crown talk made me finally get off my but and get into a suppressed 300 blk SBR. The Sig MXC pistol will be arriving tomorrow, and my paperwork for the suppressor and SBR will be going out as well. Can't wait.
Life has a melody. Not great, not terrible.

Re: Do You Want $500 NFA Tax Stamps?
Would a proposal like this be subject to a comment period like the 41F/P was, or could this just happen with a pen stroke?

"It seems that the Constitution is more or less guidelines than actual rules"

always comes back to money, not solutions anyway... How many NFA TS are done a year? How much revenue would this actually raise? If someone buys a $35000 gun they aren't going to care about 250 or 500... someone buying a suppressor might
