Obama DOJ Forced FBI To Delete 500,000 Fugitives From Background Check Database
The Justice Department under Barack Obama directed the FBI to drop more than 500,000 names of fugitives with outstanding arrest warrants from the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, acting FBI deputy director David Bowdich testified Wednesday.
Fugitives from justice are barred from buying a firearm under federal law. But what is a fugitive from justice? That definition has been under debate by the FBI and the ATF.
According to The Washington Post, the FBI considered any person with an outstanding arrest warrant to be a fugitive. On the other hand, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives defined a fugitive as someone who has an outstanding arrest warrant and has crossed state lines......

Wow, that's not a few hundred, it's HALF A MILLION. And how does the ATF know that a fugitive HASN'T crossed state lines?
OTOH, does that include warrants for unpaid traffic citations, or are those all felony warrants?Last edited by scruff; March 15th, 2018 at 02:08 PM.

I know people on here hate President Obama, but at least fact check what you post. Here is the original article in the Washington Post, not the Daily Caller lie.

If there's no interstate travel then there's no federal interest, which is the way it must be under our system of government. Anything else is an intrusion of the federal government into state matters.

This is why reading is important. The decision that he is talking about is why there was a discrepancy between the FBI and the ATF on the definition of fugitive. That was what was done under the previous administration.
The purge, itself, happened in February of 2017, when Trump signed HJ Res. 40, which restored rights to those getting mental health benefits. It was a smaller section of the resolution that he signed about exactly what Statkowski mentioned above. Federal Overreach!!

Yeah, the blood is on our hands... Looks like the government is creating a crisis that will not go to waste.
