My shop charges $10 for the fee. They are up front about it and are usually the lowest prices within 100 miles. They very often come in at on-line prices. I know the added costs so it does not bother me. If a shop charged me $25 or more and did not list it up front I would be upset. I always ask for the otd price so I do not get taken for a ride. I understand that is the way gun sales often work.

What do they list the extra $5.00 as, a service fee for dialing the phone?

Personally I think it's bull shit to add onto a forced gov mandated fee. They should mark all their firearms up by $5.00 then instead of doubling the price of the PICS it's seems highly disingenuous to me.

It does not bother me. They tell you the fee before starting the paperwork so I do not see any it as being disingenuous. I guess they could just include it in the price of the gun. Six of one and a half dozen of the other.

If a shop wanted to charge me a fee on top of the price of the gun, I would decline to purchase.

I’d probably decline to return to the store too.

When buying, I always ask what is the out the door price? This eliminates surprise costs. Typically I see five to ten dollars as a background fee. IMO a new gun should have the fee built in. On a used gun I expect the fee to be additional to the tagged price.

You should list that place here, as well as the where not to spend your money thread.

I talked to my friend who was in contact with them, and to be fair, that was the price for them to do a person to person transfer. He didn't know if that was their standard fee for buying something from them.

That's still high, but a little better than making $45 off a phone call. Not much though

I disagree. $45 for between a half and one hour of their time is not bad in my opinion. (for ptp transfers)

If your working with cash it is in your best interest to ask for OTD pricing. This works at the local LGSs,not the big box stores that I avoid !
