It's more fun to "paint the whole rifle, but just as effective to paint just the mags, or use color coded bands on the mags.

Furniture that differs from other rifles sets that one apart - paint the mags to mach that furniture.

I made/am making all of my ARs a different color (furniture) just to make them easily identifiable without having to think, even for a split second, "which" one I'm grabbing. Sure would be a pisser to need it to defend myself and realize I just grabbed the 22LR!
(the 22 is slated for a furniture upgrade when I can afford it - the pistol is clearly a pistol, so no need)

The only real potential mag mixup for me is the 7.62x39 and those are shaped differently, so I'm not going to confuse them.
(although once I completely spray that rifle in camo, I'll paint the mags to match)
My WIFE did suggest one day that I label what my mags are FOR in case SHE needs one.

These are about a buck each.

    Those are great ideas.

The more I look at pics of custom AR's the more I want to do a "look at me" gun.

I called a friend who has a shop that does vinyl graphics, wraps and hydro. He said as long as I bring him the pieces he can do it how ever I want.
I'm seriously considering either carbon fiber or chrome.

Yeah, I've been all gun-ho since the mix up and then looking all these spiffy AR's really got me caught up in it.

I could do the furniture in burl wood too.

If you own NV/thermal...you might want to use those bands for the mags...you won't be able to tell colors at night/in the dark. You can feel that mags have rubber bands on them.

I have an AR15 in 300BO and a Savage Axis as well. I've been using my Axis for PA whitetail last three years. I do load the Lehigh 194gr ME bullets and they are awesome. Very quiet with suppressor and plenty of distance for PA whitetail.

I don't think I'd go with a 7" barrel with a 300BO as most go 8.5-10.5" barrels for the best performance. I went with the 10.5' as I feel that length will burn up all of the powder.

Guess I'll get the paperwork ball rolling.

Break out your wallet...LOL. That vendor mistake is going to be costly for you. 2 stamps, the waiting, not to mention the price of the suppressor.
