Re: mixing tracers with regular rounds...
The tracers I shot in my M1 seemed to lite up between 75 & 100 yards. Ammunition was all date in the 60s.
Mr Joffee, Joffee's Gun Shop in Upper Darby Pa, would sell us bandoleers of M1 ammunition at $2.50 a bandoleer, 3 for $6.00 and and 6 for $10.00 back in late 60s & 70s. You had no idea what was in the bandoleer until you pulled out a clip.

Re: mixing tracers with regular rounds...
I was at a range near Bald Eagle State Park. As I drove in the parking lot, two guys were shooting and one was shooting an AR with tracers. As I was setting up my stuff, they continued to shoot the tracers. I said to the one guy, you know that tracers are a fire hazard and most ranges don’t allow them? He said what’s it to you? I said maybe you should go stomp out the burning grass on the range before someone calls the fire company and you have to pay for the call. They both ran down and danced on the burning grass then left as soon as they packed up their stuff.

Re: mixing tracers with regular rounds...
We were shooting a steel target. First one is a tracer stuck in the target.
The third is APIT.

Re: mixing tracers with regular rounds...
As a habit [taught me by an old 'Guard buddy], I try to load the FIRST 2-3 rds into any 30 rd magazine with tracers..if I am carrying the gun for defense. If you get in a fight, those last two tracers are just a reminder that I 4got to count rounds and I better reload RFN
If I'm just going to the range I don't usually waste money shooting tracers.
