ALMOST 50 YEARS NO TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS THEN N Y SCREWS IT UP !

More of a pissed off rant but here goes. Went to suffolk county N Y for brother in laws funeral,While approaching an amber right turn the RED LIGHT CAMERA VIOLATION says I ran the light,Not me,Mr saftey conscious seems they have a picture of my car making right turn allright they said documented at 35 mph ? 1st who the hell can make a sharp right at 35mph without flipping over ? Continues to say the the light was red for 3/10 of a second obviously turning red while I was in middle of my turn,In any event upon further investigation calibration of cameras and light come into play also and for 3/10 of a second I will be protesting this violation.Its a rant,no threats,I just hate having to go into N J and N Y ! Seems also several family members have voiced their concern over other camera violations,It appears N Y has devised a way to ticket and gain money for their coffers ! Screwing the hard working residents of Suffolk County ! Total cost for attending brother in laws funeral,Hotel $ 360,food,tolls ,gas and now the $ 80 ticket almost $ 590 out of pocket a very expensive trip that we did not need the burden of debt this caused ! Now that my mom passes away back in June, there is no need for me to cross the Delaware anymore. I make my ex SIL drive to eastern Pa. to drop my grandson off.

I was sent a ticket a couple years ago from the city of Yonkers, NY for running a red light. I was in a funeral procession at the time with flashers on and the funeral home SUV and hearse was leading the caravan. I just sent them the ticket and they took care of it. Also my first ticket in 50 years of driving.

If you decide to fight it, when the officer is saying you were caught running the light, say hearsay. The officer didn’t witness you running the light. Your accuser isn’t there to give testimony, as it’s a camera.

Probably dont have a snowballs chance in hell of getting it dismissed they would argue amber light is indication of stopping soon,but when is too soon or late come into play ? They can take the $ 80 out of my retirement fund ! Thank you for the condolences Goyabean !
