Default Fla non-resident CC permit renewall question

I appreciate the knowledge this forum has......so let me just run this one past you.

I just received my Fla Non-Resident carry permit renewals application. Now, I got this non-resident carry permit because....at the time....Ohio did not recognize a Pa. carry permit. But...they did recognize a Fla permit, resident or non-resident. However, times change and now Ohio recognizes our Pa permit.

My thinking is...I don't need this Fla non-res permit anymore. So, my question is.....is there really a "down side" to not renewing this?

    Thanks much!!

Renew. May be there is not a down side at this time but there is always tomorrow and who knows what will happen. I have PA, UT and AZ. Lots of overlap and AZ only give me one more state I wouldn't have with PA and UT but I will renew.

If you go to Delaware, they do not honor PA but do FL, my family lives there so thats why I have mine.

I let my FL expire. The higher cost plus LEO fingerprinting everytime is a pain. I got AZ which covers me in Delaware.

Yeah. This is why I'm considering letting it expire. I gotta make a trip to the PASP for the fingerprints....plus the cost. If Ohio would have recognized Pa.'s 7 years ago I never would have went thru the hoops of obtaining the FLA.

Thanks.....I think your helping me to come to a conclusion.

No one around here does the AZ class for less then $100, it was my plan to switch over but need to renew at least twice to break even with a FL, its my hope we see National Reciprocity before that.

You do know that you can use a copy of your FL permit to suffice for the training to get AZ.

Once my son moved from Florida, I let mine expire. At this time NH does everything I need. No prints, no picture, no sign off other than the license department. $100 and about 2 weeks and I'm good to go.

Why would you need a FL permit in FL? Am I wrong in thinking that Florida is reciprocal with PA.?

FL *resident* is reciprocal with PA. NH is essentially the only non-res PA accepts for our eastern and southern neighbors (NJ and MD, where smith is from)
