OK. Thanks. I didn't see he was from MD.

State reciprocity agreements do change from time to time, so an extra permit or two are nice to have. I do wish that Florida's renewal process was more simpler like AZ and Utah though.

It is very simple for residents. They have firearms permit centers. You walk in and write a check and out with your permit in 5 minutes. We also can renew online, or by mail or at some courthouse treasurers offices.

I just hate to give up any kind of license for anything. It might become next to impossible in the future if regulations get changed.

On carry permits, I like to have as many as I can for states I may be driving him. I don't relish the idea of trying to explain the concept of reciprocity on the side of the road at night.

I did not, I just requested a packet, has anyone went this route? Are their fingerprint cards any different from FBI cards?

The practical testing for a FLA permit IMHO is a joke. I passed the test with my eyes closed. All it tests is your ability to follow basic instructions and prove that you can fire one round at a paper target. Does not matter if you hit the paper or not. IIRC there might not have been any paper targets.

Their fingerprint cards are the standard blue and white cards. IIRC, they have pre-stamped the "reason code" on the card.

They're more or less all the same.
I also used my expired FL license as proof of training.
They are quite adamant that you use the cards they provide.
