EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey school district is adding armed police officers to its security plan.
The East Brunswick school board decided the officers will supplement its existing staff of 71 security guards, who are all retired police officers.
The action comes after a shooting left 17 students and faculty dead at a school in Florida and also follows the arrest of an East Brunswick high school student who is accused of posting an online threat.
A parent and a student alerted school officials about the threat and the student was charged with making a terrorist threats.
Democratic New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday will hold a news conference about school security preparedness.E FLUCTIBUS IRRUIT IN HOSTEM. AECIDAE TELO IACET LIBATIS.

Home schooling is the way to go. They all already have computers and it would be cheaper to provide them for those who don't than fund these schools. One teacher can teach countless students and the tests can be tested automatically. The public school system is outdated and needs to be done away with.

Ahh, my old alma mater.
We just had Howie the rent a cop.
I got a ticket for having the tire of my '67 442 on the paint line, at the exact same time that my buddy Mike's radio got stolen out of his van.
The kids there now aren't even allowed to go outside the building from first to last bells.
We always walked outside to avoid the hallway traffic jams. 2,300 kids cause a lot of that.
Of course, we were allowed to smoke back then too.

Re: Armed police officers in NJ schools
Personally I'm not a fan of expanding the police state. Private security, non public union employees, hardening the school entrances, maybe locking the doors
Fine on a case by case basis.

Agree mostly, however socialization is a huge part of the school experience.
Great gains could be made if teachers were not allowed to voice personal political opinions to young minds.
Also, we should go back to segregated schools. Let's put the toothpaste back in THAT tube.It is difficult to free fools from the chains they revere. Voltaire
