This is getting discouraging ha ha!
The first thing I learned about hunting from experience is it takes time and effort. The more you put in the better your chances are. This hold true doubly for well used areas. Just plug along brother and it will eventually pay off. Not to mention it is some of the best exercise you can get.

As stated before know where you are going to hunt. If you can get the deer to a road, hide it and get the vehicle, or drag it all down hill is A LOT different then having to drag it up a hill.

They make carts with balloon wheels that also serve as a seat.. but again, unless there is a good trail or road this could be a real bitch to get through thick woods

I will admit years ago I wandered way out and finally got a doe in the scope, safety off, brain says "Yo dumb ass you know you have a miserably long and steep drag out of here", lowered my rifle and turned around. It would have been drag it out and get to my car around midnight if lucky, or a 2 day drag

    Gunowner,
Don't get discouraged. Deer hunting can be difficult, but that doesn't make it any less rewarding. Archery hunting is my favorite thing to do, I look forward to it all year, it is the most rewarding and memorable hobby I have by far, but it is also the most frustrating and difficult, and that's ok. I do have a few points of advice, for what they're worth:
    1. Keep a hunting journal. I record the weather, temperature, morning/evening, location, number of deer seen, and any other interesting facts. After a few years your hunting journal will start to be a valuable tool. You can see what week or which days you saw the most deer, what the weather was like, and other facts. I hunt a lot, other than exception, I kill my buck between 80-100 hrs in the treestand. That's been the case now for many years.
    2. Make mistakes. Is it a little damp with wind in your face? try still hunting. Mix it up, walk, make mistakes and learn from them.

    and have fun!!

I should change the thread title to "Idiot Looking To sound More Idiotic When He Asks Hunting Questions!"

Any recommendations on an affordable set of binoculars? Ha ha, at least that I can handle, maybe....

I just carry some compact binocs that I picked up for like 20 bucks at Walmart. They are a brand name but I can't think of it now. They work well for me. I hunt in medium dense areas and can't see all that far anyway.

I've had good luck with Bushnell products over the years but some folks swear at them not by them. Or maybe something from the Yosemite line from Leupold, lots of good reports with them from another outdoor forum I use regularly.

    FWIW,

    Dale

    Thoughts on these?

Too junky? Too heavy? Good for a beginner? Easy to carry? What am I missing? Can I fit my slim teenage son in with me? Wat is shoothrough mesh? What mods would be required? Any recommendations ? Will this work for dragging in and out every day?

Do people really use blinds for deer hunting?

I keep seeing this thread pop up and the same question runs through my head each time.
Granted, I haven't hunted in about 35 years, but I had never heard of such a thing in Pennsylvania.
