In case you didn't know, the guys at the weapons check have no problem checking multiple knives, but I'm not sure if they can check your machete.

Both. Usually starts with a gathering outside on the steps, followed by visits to the offices of Representatives and Senators from your district / the districts of others in your group. It's definitely worth being able to go inside. If you decide to carry, I'd carry something you can check. Not sure how equipped the Capitol police are to check pistols that aren't typically holster-able.

Like last year, should be in the rotunda. No real need to bring a long gun. Guns are checked in the garage to the right of the fountain. Plenty of room. There is a form to fill out. I have it in .pdf, but this forum won't let me post it. Pre-filling the form, your firearms receipt, saves an incredible amount of time.

it wasn't a "i'm not going to go"
it was a "what should i prepare for" should i bring a folding chair, a pee bottle, food, poncho, etc. 3 hrs, 12hrs rain, snow. etc.
i'll probably carry my B.O.B. but if the parking is close i might leave my backpack there. and if it's a handful of hours i might carry my mini B.O.B. instead.
i'd prefer to stay outside but if i can check my ar pistol, gonna call them today, i'd be ok with going in for a while.
