There is some pics of 1911A1's recently transferred to a police dept on the 1911 forum. Don't know if they're an example of what the CMP has or not.

For $1,000.00 each, they can keep them.

Scotsguard had a nice USGI Remington Rand 1911A1 for $1995 at Oaks.

If anyone wants to see what they look like, there were 7 posted on a 1911 forum recently with excellent pictures. They've been blasted hard, heavily reparked, and in some cases have modern USGI contract parts. On the bright side they have interesting arsenal marks including the year rebuilt. As I collect WWII pieces, these aren't a great fit even for me but the unique arsenal marks and CMP paperwork make them appealing enough that I'll probably still try for one. If I get one and don't like it, it will surely be easily flippable for a profit like everything else CMP sells.

Again, for anyone comparing these to $400 new commercial 1911s and scoffing at the proposed price I'm fairly sure CMP will limp by ok without your application based on the attention these have gotten.

I still have faith later shipments will contain NIB NOS pistols.
