9 MM for the wife

A few years back my wife picked out a Ruger LC9 as a carry pistol, Lately the arthritic pain in her hands have made the trigger difficult too pull. I think she would be better off with a striker fire handgun. She liked the LC9 so I think the LC9S would be the better choice. However the Taurus G2 PT 111 received a very good review from Guns and Ammo. Of these two which do you think out of the box has the better trigger pull.

How is she with racking a slide with more arthritic pain? I'd say try a Shield 9, but I'd also say try a revolver with a trigger upgrade.

My wife can rack my LC9s. She can also rack my Glock 26, but can't rack anything else of mine. She doesn't have arthritis though, just not much practice. She has not shot the pistol yet though so not sure how she'd handle it.

The trigger on it is fantastic.

It may be too big for her for CC, but the Beretta 92FS Compact is one of the easier guns in which to rack the slide I have owned.

Then again have her try racking the Glock 43,my wife also has arthritic hands and is comfortably able to rack it.Note the Taurus of recent production seems to be running with trigger issues,while we own the taurus p 111 g2 it was made two years ago and no issues.good luck.

My wife's main carry is a Sig P230 (still). Had her try the LC9s Pro which she shot well, but thought it a little too snappy for her. It is now my BUG. Bought a S&W Shield for her to try out, but haven't made it to the range with her yet. The Sig P365 looks interesting, but maybe after they resolve their slide out of battery "quality improvements" it will be a future purchase!

I'd still suggest the LC9s Pro... it's amazing that they have created a 9mm that is 0.9" wide!

Try a walther pps. My wife had similar concerns with racking the slide on pistols. The pps works for her

With few exceptions, none of the previous posts really answered the OP's question. Rather, they suggested yet a different firearm.

Here is my 2¢

I had an LC9 a few years ago. I traded it in on a SR9c because of the trigger. I hated it, the LC9 trigger. It was like a double action heavy revolver trigger pull. I understand your wife's issue.

Since she is already familiar with the LC9, you should get her the LC9s which is pretty much the same gun but with a striker fired trigger.

I suspect your suggestion of the Taurus is because it can be had for a little less coin than the Ruger.

WARNING: I am about to do what others before have done...suggest a different gun, but it is different because for the most part it is the same gun.

If price is an issue, look into an EC9s. It is basically the same gun as the LC9s, but it has cheaper molded sights. It does have the same striker fired trigger as the LC9s which was (trigger) the issue your wife was having in the first place.

There is another obvious option...take her to the gun shop and let her decide.

If for some reason she has trouble racking the slide, she can get the Ruger LCR in 9mm as a revoler.
I would otherwise suggest talking to a smith to see if they can safely lighten the pull or take her to the range and let her try a few different guns.
