Default Any idea what kind of K98 this could be?

Russian capture? Some sort of rebuild? Any help would be appreciated.

I don't see any extra markings typical of a Russian capture. Why do you think it might be a rebuild? Can you post picture of the top of the entire action? Made by Gustloff werke in 1943 according to my references.

Looks like an honest mid/late war kriegsmodel.

Since the images don't show stuff like all the places with the serial numbers or importer marks, can't tell much more beyond it other than I didn't see the typical russian capture characteristics. Most russian guns were refinished. This one does not appear so, esp since those stamps are so crisp.

Is this a matching gun? Importer marks on the barrel? Are the barrel bands and floorplate stamped or milled? Does it have the "X" crossed rifles mark the russians stamped on their capture guns?

'bcd' - Gustloff Werke, Weimar. Not all Russian captures have the 'X' mark. But it's definitely a rebuild if the parts don't match.

Some of the conversions to .308 were done with .310 groove diameter x 10" twist barrels.
Not a bad combo to be surprised with.
