Default Arrest Of 1st And 2nd Amendment Protestor Last Night In Annapolis MD

As some of you know, there is a small group called the Patriot Picket in Maryland. This group has been all over the mid atlantic area helping spread the message for both the 1st and 2nd Amendments. Last night, they were at their regularly scheduled picket in front of the Annapolis Statehouse. Since they picket on the public sidewalk, they don't need a permit. They picket at this location because the representative pass by them going into the Statehouse for their Monday night session.

Last night a large police presence arrived during the picket and ordered the Patriot Picket members to get off of the sidewalk. They instructed them to step onto the Statehouse grounds. Knowing the law, the Patriot Picket members didn't want to step onto the Statehouse ground for fear of being arrested. After all, they did not have a permit to demonstrate on the grounds.

At that point 1 of the members was arrest and put into handcuffs. The Patriot Picket has a member who acts as their media guy, videotaping everything. He was arrested too. The charges, TRESPASSING on a public Sidewalk and demonstrating without a permit. How does this happen? They also charged them with failure to comply with the direction of a police officer. The first picketer was also charged with inciting a demonstration. All trumped up charges.

The 2nd amendment community in Maryland is planning a much larger demonstration next Monday at the same location. We would like to invite anyone to join us to show the that tyranny will not be tolerated. Please PM or email me for more information.

    Thank you!
    Jim

Shopping centers are private property, only the owner can evict them, no?

No shopping center involved. This was a public sidewalk or property of the state of Maryland.

Did you guys contact legal representation to see what the issue is here ?

I don’t think mass arrests (wrongful or not) is the way to go here.

I hope they have learned enough to have at least two members video recording all the proceedings!

curious, was there a reason for choosing the 66th Infantry Division patch as your avatar?

    Certainly makes you think...
If the police are so easily swayed in violating the 1st amendment, what makes you think they'll hesitate to violate others? Say a door to door confiscation.

They had video going the entire time. Even when the official videographer was arrested. BTW, the police narrative has changed at least 2 more times and possibly 3 if you count the one report that one of them was carrying a concealed gun illegally. There was no firearm on anyone's person. Remember, this is Maryland.

That patch is my Dad's Division. WWII of course. He spent almost a year in England from wounds and then he was in and out of Walter Reed for another year. He was on Malox and other stomach meds until the day he passed.

    Curious, why do you ask?

This has opened a lot of eyes. There are elected officials who are livid about this attack on 1st Amendment rights. We are on pace of getting at least 100 additional folks there this Monday evening. We are hoping for some rather high profile people too. Come on down and help out a group that have been beat down for many years. We were making progress and this is how the dems are getting their back at us. We could use your help!

    Thanks!
