    Default Isosceles vs Weaver Stances

When using the Isosceles or the Weaver stance, I was originally taught the Weaver stance or to put it more accurately the Modified Weaver stance but then I learned the Isosceles stance and for some stuff the Isosceles stance works better for me, for instance if Im shooting a large caliber gun with one hand and got a flashlight in the other hand the Isosceles stance works much better. Which stances does everybody else like?

The Weaver is way too unnatural and awkward for me...

Feel free to correct me if i am wrong . The isosceles stance began gaining popularity when competition shooting began shifting from bullseye type shooting to action shooting.

Bullseye shooting and Action Pistol competition are still two distinct sports. If you dig up pics of early Action Pistol shooters, you'll probably find a few of them using a weaver or modified weaver stance. The stance taught during WWII is kind of like a one handed isosceles stance.

Think of the isosceles stance as a fighting stance you'll likely assume when threatened. The position of your body relative to the pistol along with a proper grip offers excellent recoil control and maneuverability.

ETA: I found this decent video on stances. Seems spot on...
