Answered the door armed - took the caller a moment...
Answered the door armed. Had my 1911 at 3:00 and dual (shiny stainless) mag carrier at 9:00. Mrs.K had just left with a carload of her things (we are divorcing amicably, thanks for your concern) and I though she had forgotten something, so I went to the door when I heard the knock, which I might not have normally.
It was a young 20-something female with a clipboard and a lanyard from an energy supplier wanting to woo me over from PECO. I was going to brush her off anyway (given that I work for a PECO vendor), but I decided to have some potential fun at her expense. I normally just crack the door open a little for brush-offs, but this time - since she already had the storm door open - I decided to open wide and step fully into the opening, with a pleasant smile on my face. She managed to maintain eye contact while starting her pitch, but her eyes flicked down to my hip when I started talking and never came back up as she got out of the way to let the door close.
I'm curious what notes she was scribbling as she walked away...

I think I would have a talk with the young lady about her going door to door in this age of Bill Clinton and his kidnap island and human trafficking. Even if this young lady is moderately pretty she's putting herself in jeopardy. Just like we don't always know who's knocking at the door she doesn't know who's answering the door. It's a dangerous world out there for a woman knocking on doors.

the term butterface(but-er-face) exists for a reason, she don't gotta be anywhere near pretty to become a victim.
once this happened to me, some guy was lost looking around for a house for sale, he noticed quickly, pointed and nervously smiled. i told him that i recall a house being for sale at a nearby(1/2mi) intersection and shoo'd him away.
then again a black handgun does contrast pretty starkly to a round white gut.
of the 10 or so times people have come to my door, about a third get answered. There is no way to make it out alive...
