Re: Homemade Bullet Traps or Inexpensive Ones
Since I cast my own bullets, I decided to catch and remelt my bullets.
My target box is 3' x 3' x2' deep.
I filled it with wood chips from a treeservice.
Nothing has penetrated the back yet.
.223, 300 WSM, 7.62x54R, 30-06..all held inside
As the front board (that the targets get stapled to ) turns into air and splinters, I just screw on another piece of chip board.
I have mined it once. Got about 30 lbs of lead back.American by BIRTH, Infidel by CHOICE

Same here. Another benefit is no splatter. Mine is filled with any kind of wood I find laying around.
Like Scott if I made one with scrounged steel I'd angle the plate in a wood frame, add sides to control splatter and a few inches of sand to catch .22's.
Replace parts as needed.Last edited by cephas; February 11th, 2018 at 09:07 AM.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.
