Default Thinking about a SUB-2000 to replace AK

I have a SAR-1. It's combat accurate & boringly reliable, but it's pretty heavy, and the ammo and mags are as well. Thinking about a situation where we'd have to go (unlikely, yes, but a possibility, always), I feel like a SUB-2000 will definitely stow better, ssmaller, lighter Glock Stick mags, ammo is cheaper & lighter. Definitely not as powerful and definitely not as long range, but I'm just trying to wrap my mind around the best options. Opinions please.

Shoot one first. I have a gen2 9mm and like it. Accurate and fun for me to shoot. But I’ve let other people shoot it who have found it uncomfortable to shoulder.

Everyone will have a different opinion based mostly on their own wants/needs.
Since you mentioned a 9mm carbine, have you seen the newly re-introduced Ruger PC9 carbine?
It's a takedown model and that's why I mention it since you mentioned "stowability".
It accepts Ruger mags OR Glock mags.

If you get rid of the AK you will probably regret it. Get the sub-2000 and just keep both. If that is just not an option I would stick with the AK since it is such a battle proven weapon and since you know that your particular one is reliable.

Sub 2000 is a great addition, not replacement. I love mine. I had heard mixed reviews but then my brother got one and loved it so I decided to go for it. Got a deal on a 40 cal with beretta mags. A lot of fun, and like you said, folds and stows in relatively small space. Prices are pretty cheap on them so pick one up for sure

An AR15 PISTOL can be had for not a whole lot of cash. Pick your caliber!
Compact AND can be loaded in your vehicle - if the law is still a concern while bugging out.

This is starting to make more and more sense to me. I’m going to have to begin researching this more.
