I carry a Smith & Wesson 686 plus with a three inch barrel. I had gunsmith reduce the trigger pull and there is no recoil with 38's and very little with .357's. I have a couple a speed loaders, which if carried, gives you twenty one shots.

Smith 642 gets my vote. Lightweight and is a quick draw from an IWB holster. 442 if you prefer blue steel.

I carry a Smith & Wesson 686 plus. It's heavy enough to absorb the recoil when shooting .38's and most of the recoil when firing .357's.

I have carried a S&W 386 night guard as well as a single action schoefield in 45lc. The Schoefield when I feel like being different
I always stressed to my son"one shot one kill that was all that is needed". When He came home from Marine Corp Boot camp He was telling me about the Marines stressing "ONE SHOT ONE KILL" He looks at me and the light bulb went on Dad was now a whole lot smarter than he was 13 weeks ago.

Carried a Colt Detective Special for years. Still have it. Handles +P ammo all day and fairly accurate. Moved on to a Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II. Nothing wrong with a wheel gun.
