Default Re: My New Itch: Ruger Mark IV Standard 4.75"

I have a Mk III Competition that shoots very well, but was as tired of cleaning it as I was of Brady and Belichik. Bought a MK IV Hunter. They both shoot extremely well; in fact their targets are virtually identical. The IV's trigger seems ever so slightly better to me and takedown and reassembly are a snap.

The III eats any ammo and could be pushed to 1000 rounds before needing a cleaning. With the last box of Federal Auto Match and Volquartsen upgrade, the IV has begun to want more frequent cleaning to run well. But right now I'm running through bricks of ammo bought whenever I could find them during the Great Obama Firearm Depression, so it may be the ammo. In any case, if it's the gun or the upgrade, it's fine with me.

    Thanks for all the advice.

I have a S&W Victory. My brother has a Mark IV Target (stainless). I like them both.

Call it a shallow reason, but I'd like the Standard 4.75 for the look. I like the tapered barrel...kinda P08 looking.

My birthday's in March. Maybe, I'll get myself a gift.

i have a mk2 bicentennial version with the bull barrel.
i dont shoot it much or recently.
i can literally point it down range then turn my head, eat a sandwich and have a conversation with someone and still cut the ten ring out of a target all day long. it's just not fun, almost painful to load the mag and ten goes by so quickly.
it's only metal, we can out think it....

Your welcome. I have the mark 3 22/45 target. It's a great shooter.
