PA state trooper disassenbled my gun during traffic stop

The Philly Police had an astronomical number of ND's when they switched over to the Glock 17 in the late 80's.

They blamed the AD's on the holsters.

I think that any gun that's carried cocked with no manual safety, would naturally have a higher occurrence of AD.

Notwithstanding highly trained operators and tactical mall ninjas, a manual safety equipped pistol is "safer" to carry because requires an extra step. That's also a second chance to check yourself, and hopefully counteract any brainfart activity already in progress.

Again just my opinion, but I'd guess DAO's probably fall somewhere in between.

There are valid arguments for and against carrying any style trigger/safety/decocker pistol. Diversity is what makes America so great.

What it really boils down to, is complacency kills in just about every aspect of life.

To pull you over, yes. But once they have you pulled over for a valid reason, they need NO additional reason to get you out of the car. And if it's still conceled, I probably still wouldn't inform. If they inform me that they are going to do a terry frisk, THEN I would inform.... while my hands are well away from wherever the gun may be. (maybe - never been in that situation.... not sure what I'd do really)

Supreme Court decision was Penna v Mimms. Asking the driver to get out was permissible for officer safety and for the driver car occupants too as it got them out of the way of passing cars. This decision reversed the PA Supreme Court

As a former police officer and graduate of the MPOTC of the Pa State Police I either do not believe the poster that this really happened. If it did, you would be filing a complaint. If you did not file a complaint then you should not post such garbage on this site. Go file a complaint or seek an attorney to file it for you. No department would put up with such nonsense from its LEOs.

Would the LAPD and Torrance PDs "put up with" their officers trying to slaughter a couple of Hispanic paper delivery women and a White surfer when they were allegedly searching for a large Black man in an entirely different model and color of vehicle? Strangely, YES, they DID.

The answer he'll get back will probably be very similar to my complaint "the officer remembers it differently" and that will be that.

That's why I always have a voice recorder when I'm carrying.

No one should carry a Glock unless they are very well trained and train regularly. Glocks (and copies) as I've said many times, are more prone to NDs than other handgun designs.

Glocks are like the C programming language. They'll do whatever you tell them to do of which they're capable, even if it's stupid.

If you write C code that overruns an array, C will happily write data in the place you tell it, wherever that happens to be, including video memory.

If you pointed a loaded Glock at your foot and pull the trigger, it will go off, making a hole in your foot.

C and Glocks are not for the careless and the stupid.

Sounds reasonable to me. He doesn’t know you. Everyone needs to come home at the end of the day. Put yourself in his shoes.

I don't know him, and I have EVERY bit as much reason to be wary of him.

At that point, he's just a stranger with a gun and unknown and UNKNOWABLE motivations.
