    Default New M&P 380 Shield

Well it looked promising until I saw they added a ridiculous grip safety, but hey the manual safety is optional.

The 9mm Shield is one of my all time favorite pistols but this looks like a swing and a miss to me and I bet S&W removes that grip safety within the 1st year of it's release or else they have themselves a big swing and a miss with most concealed carriers.

I thought the target market were people with weak hands, elderly, women, etc. who had problems racking the slide. Not for me but serving a portion of the market that will appreciate it

Perhaps, but what does the grip safety do that will assist the elderly?

Not a bad idea but agree the grip safety is just out of left field

Grip saftey blew it right off my have to get list. and if S&W wanted to alienate Glock owners they totally did it with their new POS 380. JMO/MDT

I don't get it either. What does the grip safety have to do with a more-easily-rackable slide?

I think most shield owners would prefer *anything* over the articulated trigger safety.

looks like less of a POS than the bodyguard .380, which isn't saying much.

Unless it is locked breech, and it may be, the force to rack the slide will be high if it is a straight blow back.

Well it is, so it isn't.

When my left wrist was sore, the grip safety was hard to work.

They recalled all the thumb safety ones. They are available both ways.

    It's a nice gun .
