Been awhile for me, but doesn't research buy the PICS unit more time? They then have 15 days to approve or deny with the info given. If approved, then they will call back and the initiator of the background will call you. They will tell you that you have seven (or was it five?) days to come in and sign off (the approval number is only good for a few days). If you miss that deadline, you will have to start over again and pay another fee for another background check. If denied, you have 30 days to file a challenge form. If you let that time frame go, I believe you have to wait one year to challenge again; so it is best not to miss that date. If challenge form brings a change or approval then you will get a letter from State Police stating so and you bring that letter with you next time you do a background. If still denied, then you will need to talk with a lawyer again.

A lot of people don't realize an M1 misdemeanor can prohibit you in PA. Then the sheriff also can use the character clause for LTCF if you are known to him/her. Also, in the old days, people would try to get a LTCF or even buy to see if they were denied. Don't do this as the State Police will come by asking why you tried to buy or get a LTCF when you are prohibited. They used to not do that much but politically, gun people were complaining against more laws being enacted when the current ones were not being enforced etc.

The only thing being is that Probation without verdict for my misdemeanor states. That once completed I would not be considered convicted of the offense. Leaving me with only a summary offense
