C&R Application

When applying for C&R, do I send copy 1 to the ATF and Copy 2 to CLEO at the same time?

Or must the application be approved by the ATF before I send the copy to the CLEO?

I ask because at the bottom of the CLEO copy, it still has the space for ATF to mark approved/denied.

Send the copy to the CLEO at the same time as you mail the app to the ATFE. The copy is for his info only, he has no input in the matter for a C&R.

A quick question on the CLEO form. Does it go to county Sheriff or township Police Dept?

I sent a copy of my original application to the township chief listed on the township's web site when I lived there. My renewal went to the township's chief where I live now. I also sent a short explanation of why I was mailing it to them I think (along the lines of the BATFE requires me to send you a copy of this, etc.) I have a slight feeling they may not know why it is being sent to them. But that's just me.

You really do not need to send it to both, neither has a say in it UNLESS they know of something you have done in the past that would make you ineligible to get it, then they can inform the ATF.

I dropped mine off at the local PD for the chief.
