Looking for Gunsmith to glass bed M1A
Hello all like the title says I am looking for a gunsmith in PA to bed a M1A.
Just to be clear bedding a M1A is not like bedding a bolt action rifle. If it was I would just do the job myself or take it to one of the gunsmiths I have used in the past. This is a whole different animal. I also don't want a gunsmith "learning" on my rifle. I am looking for someone who has done this before and knows the platform well.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Re: Looking for Gunsmith to glass bed M1A
Is it loose and needs bedded, or you want to just because? I was going to bed mine after I bought it, but decided against it. I don't know of a smith in PA but there has to be one somewhere. I added a shim kit to the front band, trimmed the heat shield to prevent contact and added a NM spring guide and buffer. Shoots great ever since. Scott Duffs book is a great resource. My .02

Re: Looking for Gunsmith to glass bed M1A
Greetings,
As the owner of 3 M14s, I understand the unique requirements of bed'ing them. IF you can't locate anyone locally, I had a very good experience regarding a difficult repair on one of mine by Ted Brown at Shooters' Den in Oregon. Quick service, quality work and very reasonable price too. He's a nationally known M14 'smith, former competitor and armorer for one of the military teams. Good luck!

If you're willing to go to Oregon, may want to consider Fulton Armory in Savage MD. I hear they do top notch work.
