Here is the way to do it. Especially if you can get this whole bike.

There is a guy in my area that rides a Triumph customized to look like a 'cowboy' bike...not sure how to describe it. Lots of fringe hangin off of it and leather. On the right side he mounted a scabbard that normally would be used on a horse/saddle with a leveler action rifle in it. Think the rifle is a non operating unit but never asked or talked to him. Bottom line is it looks cool as hell! Definitely 'custom'.

I would think that carrying that rifle pointing down would set a truck driver's mind a bit more at ease.

Put it in a soft case and put the case over your shoulder. As long as it isn’t directly visible, nobody will even know what you’ve got.

Back in the 70s my son on his bike and me on mine rode to upper Bucks where we deer hunted, rifles slung over our backs. No big deal. Far as I know, the law hasn't changed to the point where it can no longer be done. About ten years ago I bought an SKS at Hamburg Cabela's, brought it home on the turnpike slung on the bike.

I've seen it done several times, openlu on the rider's back as well as in a scabbard. (I've probably seen guns carried in cases of some sort but not known what was in the cases). There is one member of our Fish & Game club who rides a motorcycle all year in all sorts of weather and he doesn't seem to hesitate to put a rifle across his back to go out for a bit of hot lead therapy.

I don't have a short temper, I just have a quick reaction to bullshit.

I would think the truckers would give him a wide berth. As would all the anti loons.
