Does anybody remember the Mercury Gun Club in Aston?
Took a walk back to the old Mercury Gun Club remains yesterday. I was never there when it was operating. I *think* it closed down in the early 90's.
Anybody have the full story of this club?
Thanks for sharing if you do, would absolutely love to hear it!
(I have some pics of the clubhouse on another camera, will hopefully post them tomorrow)

Re: Does anybody remember the Mercury Gun Club in Aston?
The Mercury Gun Club property was owned by Sun Oil and the club was part of the recreation benefit for being an employee of that company. The land became very valuable over the years and Sun sold the property to a developer that had big ideas for the parcel that apparently did not go as expected. By the way, you had to be an employee of Sun to use the range or a guest. The parcel of land was also used by a hunting dog training facility that apparently rented the property from Sun for that purpose.

There are a few big deer inhabiting the woodlot behind Applebee's.
In my youth, older guys went there for local small game and to train dogs."If you believe the term "militia" means the National Guard then you must believe that freedom of speech is reserved for the Government Printing Office." - Some guy, 2/2007

What's the range over towards Brookhaven? Hear lots of gunfire sometimes down near Chester Creek? Somewhere off Duttons Mill Rd. Is it public?

Delco field and stream. Also a private club. There are a few members here that belong.

Ok thanks Bogey. In my job I sometimes have some downtime and hang out in the Lowes/Shoprite lot and hear shooting. Wondered where it came from.
