How to take down and Inspect your WWII Luger for matching parts.

I know we have a lot of surplus and military collectors like myself and after seeing this I thought I would post it. I have personally seen a lot of people buy WWII pistols like P38's and BHP's for top dollar not realizing they were getting lower grade or mismatched guns due to poor inspection.

Some will say that's a lot of break down to check and most sellers and vendors might not be comfortable with it. My answer to that is the seller should either have a complete set of digital pictures of the specific pistol printed guaranteeing your purchase out showing each numbered part or be willing to sell the pistol at a lower grade.

What great information - an informed buyer is always better. When everything matches, the only unresolved issue is price discovery...

The usual "mismatched" part on a Luger, particularly those from Russian reworks, is the lock plate on the left side that effectively holds the gun together. Dave_n

I am still looking for a Luger that is in very good condition. I have two. One is chrome-plated with all matching parts. If it were not chrome-plated, this would be worth $$. The other is mostly matching parts, but it is not in good condition.
