I had a similar experience back in the early 2000's with a Romanian SAR-3 (5.56) AK variant.. if I remember the versions correctly. The seller was walking around at the show with it over his shoulder and the story was he would fire a few rounds and the whole FCG would just pop out. It ended up being the Hook Spring.. or whatever the technical term is was not installed properly.. Took me about 5 min to correct and the problem was resolved. But that was after paying very little for the rifle.

My favorite is always the broken firing pin on guns from people who have hosed them down with WD-40 for years on end with no cleaning other than the barrel. This essentially turns the pin & it's spring into a shock absorber and it won't strike the primer hard enough to fire. I've bought dozens like this and all they needed was a little TLC.
