Re: How many people prefer to shoot nickel plated ammo in their semi auto pistols?
I never really gave it any thought, but after this thread, it would seem that not many people have a choice since almost all defense ammo is nickel plated.
Kind of makes you want to choose brass just because you can't. LOL

Is nickel plated rated for higher pressure?

So you put $500 worth of SD ammo thru your carry gun{s}?

Re: How many people prefer to shoot nickel plated ammo in their semi auto pistols?
I do put several hundred rounds of whatever ammo I carry through the carry gun, yes.
It is not logical to train exclusively with a cheaper ammo if the carry ammo has a different feed or recoil or anything else that may differ.
The carry ammo needs to be practiced and tested just as the carry gun needs to be practiced and tested along with the holster.
As an example, the 40 cal 165 Grain Hornady Critical Defense ammo has a much heavier recoil than a 40 cal 180 Grain FMJ.
But the 40 cal 175 Grain Hornady Critical Duty ammo has the same recoil as standard 40 cal 180 Grain FMJ.
Similarly, the 38 cal self defense carry ammo has a much heavier recoil than standard 38 cal ammo.
After I do an initial full testing of a brand of carry ammo, I will still run it for about 1/4 to 1/3 of any training day at the range, so about 50 to 100 rounds per trip.
I do this to cycle my carry ammo, as well as to keep it well tested and well trained.
I see people go to the range to train using a different holster, different magazine carrier, different clothes, and different ammo.
Then they delude themselves into believing that they are well trained for a defensive gunfight on the street.
It is not logical. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?
