Re: How many people prefer to shoot nickel plated ammo in their semi auto pistols?
I don't have a preference in regards to nickle or brass. I like Golden Saber and it happens to be nickle plated. I have never had a hiccup with my p89 and I have shoot just about every type of cheap ammo through it.
I use brass fmj in my lcp because I want a bit more penetration with the lighter bullet, I have no favorite so right now I think it is loaded with Federal.
I have nickle plated Winchester Silver Tips in my .38 because it was a good deal on an older box. Some people just plain suck.
If you're gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough.

Re: How many people prefer to shoot nickel plated ammo in their semi auto pistols?
Thanks for all the input dudes.
Here's what I'm getting at.
Federal Law Enforcement 40 S&W Ammo 180 Grain HST Jacketed Hollow Point $0.30 per round (brass case).

Federal Law Enforcement 40 S&W Ammo 180 Grain HST Jacketed Hollow Point $0.46 per round (nickel plated brass case).

What is the typical well trained dude to do?
The rounds are identical, and both are high quality self defense rounds.
Does a dude save $0.16 per round with a standard brass case, or is the nickel plating important enough to pay the extra $0.16 per round?
It may not sound like much, but it's an extra $160.00 per thousand rounds.
Obviously, if the nickel saves your life then it is worth the extra cash.
But I have used brass for decades and I have never had a problem with it.
Now nickel plated brass is considered superior for a smoother feed since it is slicker than plain brass.
Does a dude just resign themselves to buying the more expensive superior ammo.
Or does a dude just stick with what has been heretofore reliable? How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?

This dude would by a small quantity of nickel plated for carry, and buy cheap stuff for range use.

My carry guns eat anything, plated or not, so it doesn't matter. I don't know if the plating does anything except to increase the perceived value of expensive ammo.

I don't care if it's brass or nickel. I don't think it matters. I also don't think the type of self defense ammo matters either. It's all about shot placement. Pistols are just not that deadly. I don't think some new gimmick bullet is going to matter that much. I even carry with FMJ reloads since I know they work every time.
