References were always done by the mail via post card from his office to the listed reference he and only he require references to be within Monroe County which is against state law. From what I know the only thing that has changed is that the cards mailed to inform you to pick up your LTCF are now in sealed envelops and they no longer require a copy of your Birkenhimer (sp) tax papers which was bull shit.

They will send you a about 30-35 days in saying they have not received anything back from your references. My wife used a neighbor who stated she never received the card when we asked her so they had to send out another which she received and returned.

Yes I’m hapoy I followed the advice of the Sherrif’s office and brought the references in person. Was wondering now that they have the references how long it would take. The office said about a week. Just wanted to know if someone has been threw the process recently.

Might prove interesting if the sheriff denies the application because nobody responded to his reference requests. I'm sure he'd be able to cite state law justifying such.

And the applicant should then send them back a card/letter stating, "That's your problem, not mine. I complied with state law and filed a one-page application. The 45-day clock is ticking for approval/denial."

The Sheriff is kind of a Jerk as well as officer smiley who sits or at least used to at the front desk there without manners or common courtesy. Now the women who work in the office are very kind and knowledgeable so that's a good thing.
