I have a question regarding this- If I have a Rem1100 and disable the gas system so I'd have to manually cycle the bolt for each shot, would it still count as a semi-automatic? I have an 870, but it has an unchoked 18 inch barrel, and while i could probably use it, my 1100 is already set up with the chokes and rifle sights for hunting.

If it's the same criteria it is for converting/ deactivating semi auto rifles, Yes it's still a semiauto shotgun it's now just a malfunctioning semi auto shotgun . There's several threads in the past about it . just get a slug barrel for the 870
