Default Looking to move into area (Blue Bell radus). Recommendations?

    Hi,

I'm moving into the area from OOS and am looking for recommendations on towns or areas.

SWMBO is getting a job in Blue Bell. I work at home/travel. No pets or kids that I know of.

I've heard good things about North Wales, but am wondering what other suggestions there may be.

Looking to rent a house with a garage as I have alot of junk (guns, truck, motorcycle, homebrew, weights, etc.)

    Looking for:

    1) Good commute to Blue Bell
    2) (2A) Friendly and Safe
    3) Reasonably near a good gun club (I'm thinking Lower Providence R&G but not sure what others are near)
    4) Affordable (bang for the buck)
    5) Reasonably near Interstate or public transportation. Would like to be able to get to Philly, York, or NYC without too much hassle if need be
    6) Obviously, don't want to pay Philly city tax

Thanks in advance for any recommendations -D

SWMBO. (humorous) She who must be obeyed — one's wife or female partner.

Took a bit to figure that one out. Are you moving from another state (OOS) or from York PA? You have the right idea in going North a bit as the closer to Philly you go, the more expensive and less 2A friendly it is. How long of a commute to Blue Bell is permissable/preferered? I think West of the Turnpike will be more reasonable, but am not up on recent pricing.

Some folks with more recent and detailed answers should be along shortly.

Yup, moving from York. 20-30 min commute radius is reasonable. Not looking for anything too rural like Morgantown but decently near shopping and restaurants. Thanks

Phoenixville/Spring City area used to be pretty cheap. Not sure anymore though. Lots of things within reach.

Overall the region around Blue Bell is nice... until you start getting close to Norristown. I live just on the other side of County Line Road in Chalfont. It really depends on what you are looking for and what can afford. Check Realtor.com and put in the search criteria. If you need a Realtor, I can recommend one.

Everything along 422 is going through the roof in prices. There is still Spring City which have not really awoken to the insanity, YET..
But at rush hour 422 and into Philly is nuts.. My brother still lives in Phoenixville and was working in Philly.. said he could ride his bicycle on the rail trail and take 45 minutes off his commute by car.

Other option would be to take the train in.

The problem with Blue Bell is that the only real highway going near it is the TPK and unless you want to go up route 309 any distance is going to yield a heavy traffic commute during rush hour. I have a house in Douglassville that I need to prepare for sale that I could clean up to rent if you might be interested in that. That NYC, York, Philly centrality that you are seeking isn't bad but the commute to Blue Bell would suck. Gun clubs are all over the place and modern day restaurants and amenities are abundant as well. If interested send me a PM.
