Also, don't forget that most people - people who don't frequent message boards like this - have no idea how much gun laws vary from state to state. They naively or ignorantly think other states are similar to their own. And they blithely think their laws are OK. Need a FOID card to buy a gun? Reasonable. 30 day waiting period to take home my new handgun? OK. $75 plus a class, plus fingerprints, +++ to get a carry permit? Sure. When they move out of CA or NJ or NY or MD, they take that mindset with them. Unfortunately, we are surrounded by four states that are anti-gun, and those mindsets come across our borders.

Yes you are right, SCOTUS stated your individual right stopped outside the door of your home. Pretty much everything else is still up for grabs.

Many moons ago a bunch of angry Patriots crossed the river with guns, I'm sure if push came to shove a bunch of angry Patriots will block the river with guns.

Yes, but many times they are moving from their pathetic states to get away from the draconian laws and become better pro gun activists than the long time residents of their new found state.

To an extent, I think you're right. At least I hope so.

Gun control people are Cause Oriented. It's not about safety, it's about them feeling good at "fight back against the gun lobby".

Don't forget to work in the phrase "common sense".

This political cartoon sums up the deep thought process we are up against:

http://www.gocomics.com/jeffstahler. Look for the Jan 25 cartoon. I don't even understand what he is going for.
