Leave in the car long term? Nope For short periods I have a simple lock box stashed away inside that I can lock it up in.

i figure, if the FBI can't figure out how to keep things from being stolen from vehicles, why should i risk my $300 gun, all issues aside, i don't really have $300 to just grab another, besides, we've got a history together.
that being said, the cars are unlocked in the driveway, please take my junk mail. you can even have the radio. please leave the cat litter and food at the front door though.

there have been instances where i've left parts of a gun in the car, or a rifle in the trunk. but it's really really rare. pre-work range trip or the likes.
however, i spend a majority of my work day with my car in my view, like i could throw marshmallows and hit it.
There is no way to make it out alive...

I have. My truck is always parked in my driveway well back off the street , right outside my bedroom window. I have motion activated floodlights and recording cameras , and the truck has an alarm. Not much crime in my neighborhood either.

I figured denizen was enough of a denigration for one post.

Yep. I've had a car stolen. Big PITA. But just that. Much worse if I had a weapon in it.

You might as well have used the word burgher instead.

I agree with most of what was said, however, the reality is, there are times when I have to remove it and secure it. For instance, every day I go to work, because having it in the building is cause for dismissal, not to mention some of the work I do is not conducive to having a gun on your hip. I try not to let it happen, but it does occur. I have a safe locked to the vehicle and the vehicle has a security system, so it seems to me if one takes prudent measures and limits the circumstances of requiring it be in the vehicle, the chances go way down. I'm not so naive to believe it couldn't be stolen out of there or the whole truck being taken, but if I didn't lock it in there, I've virtually never have it available. That is the reality weighed against the possibility.
