    Default JC Higgins Shotgun Question

I found a loose spring on my work bench that I think goes to a 12 gauge JC Higgins Model 20. Based on the schematic on Numrich's site it looks like part #18, cartridge stop spring. Anyone out there have a Model 20 and can tell how it is installed?

I think it goes behind the cartridge stop nested in the left side of the receiver.

*here's an alternate look at the same thing.

On second review it isn't the cartridge stop spring. The cartridge stop wasn't removed and its spring is still in place. I'm thinking this may have come from something else.

Looks like a spring from a handmade Amish adjustable wooden cock ring.
