Default Official Rules For Hunting w AR15

Sorry for asking this but I’ve searched and haven’t found a clear answer.

Whats the official law for hunting with a semi auto ar15?

Prior to today i thought it was only 22lr for small game and fur bearer.

After today i saw someone say 22caliber which could mean 223? Is this true?

ANd for coyotes it can be semi auto rifle of any caliber?

And for coyotes is there a magazine capacity?

The only reason I’m trying to figure this out is so i can build me some more hunting ar15s!

It's 22 rimfire for small game, except groundhog which has no caliber restriction. No caliber restriction for coyotes. NO mag limit for any.

Sweet time to whip out that 308 ar10 w 100 round drum! Lol

Jk of course, one thing i wish they would adjust is the “rifle” requirement.

If you could hunt with an AR pistol it would be cool. Still happy with the way it is now though too.

Already used the .22 AR I built along with a suppressor for a few squirrels. Light, accurate, and easy on the ears.

There is nothing in the regulations specific to the AR15.

It is rimfire .22 or less. From the Hunting Trapping Digest

    Arms & Ammunition
    1) Manually operated and semiautomatic 10-gauge or less
shotguns with a capacity of no more than 3 shells in the
chamber and magazine combined; 2) Manually operated
and semi-automatic rifles and manually operated handguns
    22-caliber rimfire or less;
    3) Air-guns for small game in calibers
from .177 to .22, for woodchucks at least 22-caliber, that propel
a single-projectile or bullet. BB ammunition is prohibited.
    4) Muzzleloading rifles and handguns 40-caliber or less, and
shotguns 10-gauge or less; and 5) long, recurve and compound
bows and arrows, and crossbows. Single-projectile ammunition,
or fine shot pellets no larger than No. 4 lead, bismuth-tin,
or tungsten-iron, or other approved non-toxic shot or No. 2
steel. Note: Rifle and handgun caliber restrictions do not apply
    when hunting woodchucks.

If you want to use a 30 round mag or a 100 round drum, you can do so. Myself, I will use a 10 or 20 round. I find the 30 rounders unwieldy when shooting offhand or prone. I think .223 is a good coyote round.
I have a .22 converter, but its just not nearly as accurate as my other .22 rifles.
