    Default STI Pistols

On Monday morning a prospective buyer is taking my little sailing yacht out for a sea trial. If the sea trial is satisfactory the boat is sold!

The second thing I plan to do upon selling the boat is to enlist Lycanthrope's help in purchasing an STI Edge.

Jeff has taken time to explain a lot about the Edge to me. He is a wealth of information & I look forward to seeing him shoot sometime soon.

In the meantime I am curious as to who else on this board might have an STI?

I am not nearly the technician Lycanthrope is.

I buy a pistol. I clean the pistol. I shoot the aforementioned pistol. I miss a lot. That's about as much as I know.

How do the STI's work for us "normal" people?

Hey Jeff... The FIRST thing I am going to do is party for a week.

I love that gun. I'll say it again, had I known back when I started what I know now, I would have never bought anything before that STI.

never shot an STI, but I hear nothing but good reviews on them. I really like the STI Spartan.

Nope. I remember reading that thread months ago.

I have not received the final word on my boat yet. If the sale goes through I'll be in touch Sir!

    STI's are good, SVI's are better. http://www.sviguns.com/

STI is a high end manfacturer of pistols along a set product line

SVI is a custom builder of 2011 style pistols, they are built to the customers specs.

I have a custom built SVI by Dave Dawson and a STI(frame only everything else is SVI) custom built by Gary Natale at GANS

I don't want to hijack the thread, but it might help with this discussion

I've got an STI slide for a 1911 build. Do the ones that come on STI pistols have lots of tool marks? It'll probably take me a couple hours with files and sanding strips to clean up the ejection port flare and the rounds of the slide that they sent me.

An SVI slide would have been nice, but it would also have cost nearly double what the STI slide cost, and I could have almost bought a complete RIA pistol with what I spent on the STI slide.

    Quality has its price.

Generally the slides come with marks on them. They are still in the rough and are expected to be fitted by a gunsmith and then finished.

I used to tell my ex-wife that. Emphasis in EX. I don't think she understood.
