Did they make the cylinder larger, or make the walls thinner in order to get the extra hole in there?

I *believe* they did what S&W did, and merely drill 7 holes in the same size cylinder that holds the 6.

As a result of drilling an extra hole.

This one is very nice: barrel is on straight, very little endshake, perfect bc gap, and acceptable lock up. I think I’ll change the front site to either a traditional red ramp or a gold bead.

It fits (snugly) in my 686p holster, and I put a set of rosewood Badger combat stocks on the little beast.

Ruger did a good job with this 7 shot snub.

See, I was gonna come in here and start bitching about how stupid a GP100 snubbie is and to yell at you kids to get off my damn lawn, and then I saw the picture you posted.

    Damn that's pretty.

    Now I want one.

I my opinion the 2.5 inch barrel is perfect for this revolver. In the holster pictured, this gun makes for a very concealable pistol that still packs a significant punch. Velocity is lost from a longer barrel, but a 158 gr. magnum will still go ~1050-1100 ft/s, which is is distinctly more muzzle energy than any full size 9mm.

The high ride holster here carries the gun so high on the hip that even a short t-shirt would completely cover the gun. It does have weight to it: 36 ounce unloaded. A good belt and holster takes care of that.

I’d like to see how far the flame shoots out from that short barrel !

Muzzle flash on these snub .357 mags is significant. It's more pronounced on the 125 gr., but it's still pretty bright with the 158's, especially Fiocchi JHP.

The most muzzle flash of any gun I've owned was a 4 inch S&W model 58 in .41 mag. With Remington 210 gr., it lit up the whole entire range, all the lanes could see it. At 7 yards, the target actually gets blown by the blast.

If you reload, Vitahvouri 110 powder has less explosive gasses (FLAMES), unlike some of the other "110" powders....

No flamethrower stuff, but if you need to light a cigarette, well, you gotta take your chances whatever the powder...

That is just one of many reasons why I won't own one with a barrel that short. It didn't take me too long behind the trigger of one (even with rather mild Hornady XTP loads) to know it is nothing I want to carry and won't be dropping my money on. Luckily I knew people whom already owned them so I could try them out. I like the GP100s, I'll just take a 4"+ barrel.
