Re: Medical marijuana and license to carry
Let's get this figured out: Fed Gov says having pot = illegal. PA Gov says = Medical pot OK. PA Gov going against Fed Gov on this. But, PA Gov says illegal to have guns & medical pot (under Fed Gov rules). But, PA Constitution says: Article I, section 21 of the Pennsylvania State Constitution states: “The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.” We all know about the 2nd Amendment right not being "infringed" on.
So how is it BOTH State and Federal gun rights are trumped/dumped/canceled out by having medical pot? Who has deemed they have the authority to dismiss/change an unalienable right? And please, do look up definition for "unalienable right". Looks like no Gov has the "right", or authority, to change these things.
This is going to end up being a court case with some form of jury nullification over the pot/gun laws. What a dumpster fire this is going to be!

Re: Medical marijuana and license to carry
That's not how it works (emphasis added by me):
Some medical marijuana patients will claim they have a doctor’s prescription for medical marijuana, but marijuana prescriptions are in fact illegal. The federal government classifies marijuana as a schedule I drug. Therefore doctors are unable to prescribe marijuana to their patients, and medical marijuana patients cannot go to a pharmacy to fill a prescription for medical marijuana. Instead, medical marijuana physicians will supply patients with a medical marijuana recommendation in compliance with state law.

I'm surprised the various agencies aren't somehow trying to get data from insurance companies on people who are prescribed narcotic painkillers and cross-referencing with LTCF and non-registration ROS databases.

Re: Medical marijuana and license to carry
The basic arguement runs deeper than what substances can or can’t be consumed if one wants to defend oneself with a firearm. The basic arguement is ...is the right to be armed under the Constitution truly an inalienable right? Meaning, what authority does the federal government have to use such a flawed system as nics to deny the rights guaranteed by the constitution.
A system that is in error as much as 95% of denials being false positives. A system that has supplanted the due process under fair judicial procedure. A system that even when it works.....doesn’t do anything to stop someone from obtaining a firearm in any manner of other methods like theft or production.
Fixing nics means dumping it altogether.
