Re: Medical marijuana and license to carry
First off, chronic neurological pain has a broad range of pain levels. Ones ability to manage it on Tylenol does not mean someone else should. Also, what of the science that suggests marijuana can be combined with reduced amounts of opiods to produce the same pain reliving affects.
The heroin epidemic is not the same as the opiod epidemic. Though the crackdown on opiod prescriptions is driving the heroin crisis. And so what we have now are heroin addicts who have no restriction on firearms possession yet if a retired UPS driver with multiple failed back surgeries wants to take marijuana as a pain management tool.....he gets his firearms taken away. Unless, he accesses marijuana the same way heroin addicts do. Which is what will happen. There will be a market for illicit undocumented marijuana transactions just as always.
The only logical solution is removing marijuana from controlled substance status.

Re: Medical marijuana and license to carry
People can just go on vacation in Colorado and load up, then drive home. D.C. and Massachusetts are legalizing for recreational use soon also. This will be a non issue soon.

Re: Medical marijuana and license to carry
Not exactly. The heroin addict/firearm owner gets to keep his guns and lies to purchase them. If he gets caught the jig is up. Like all criminal activity.
The same is true now. A person can hide or lie about their marijuana use and take your chances just the same.
Nothing has changed except states have decided to institute an exception for certain drug use against federal law. We can't say yeah that's a good thing, but then rail against sanctuary cities. I'm not saying you are, just making a point that we can't have it both ways. The feds either need to be challenged on a variety of issues, or we need to abide by them. The state isn't going to stand up for the pot smoker that mistakenly purchased a firearm. So as with anyone else that breaks the rules you're on your own.

Re: Medical marijuana and license to carry
Is there currently a data base that automatically sucks the medical marijuana permittee into the nics program? Is it a part of the fix nics bill?

Re: Medical marijuana and license to carry
I didn't follow the passage of this act. Wonder if anyone brought this up in discussion (losing your 2A rights)?
