I let 99.999% of grammar go, but if you're gonna bring it up:

    1. Capitalization - It's either Sgt or SGT, not SGt
    2. Punctuation/usage - If it's Sgt there should be a dot/period to indicate an abbreviation, while SGT is a standardized rank designation
    3. Attention to detail - My screen name has no space between the dot/period and the "K"
    4. Grammar - There should be some kind of punctuation (a comma, dash, or colon) after the "K" to separate the addressing me/getting of my attention (e.g. "Sgt.K") and the message ("tell him it should be butt hurt.")

Back to the "gifting" to another person.

It is perfectly legal to buy a firearm (long arm or handgun) to give as a gift (lets say a retirement gift) and the buyer will answer YES to 4473 Block 11a. It is fully explained in the 4473 how and why this is perfectly legal to do and even gives very straight forward examples of each scenario (as a gift (buying with your money) or buying for someone with their money). It also tells you that the gift giver needs to know the gift receiver is not prohibited. If the gift is a handgun, the gift will need to be transferred to the gift receiver at a FFL (sorry, even though the law says it can be done at a Sheriffs Office, most will not do it and will direct you to a FFL - lots of conversations about that going on all the time).
