milsurp revolvers - need recommendations
For some reason I'm getting a bug in my bonnet to buy and old revolver of some sorts. I'm looking for something older, either military or police surplus, inexpensive (preferably under $250) that I can carry hiking if desired or just to shoot for fun.
I've had a Nagant in the past. It was OK, but I didn't love it. What else is out there that I might find at a local gun show that I should look for and may be relatively available? Webleys? S&Ws? What else?
Recommendatioms are welcome. Photos make it much more imformative.Sed ego sum homo indomitus

You can get a nice S&W Model 10 for under $300. It was the most popular law enforcement pistol for decades. I'm not a revolver guy, but I love my NYPD Model 10 with its leather S&W retention holster that looks like it's seen some street scuffles. The trigger is amazing - buttery smooth and crisp, with no take-up at all. It's little-used except for the holster wear on the muzzle. I feel privileged to own a gun that probably stayed with one officer throughout his career.

I would start by looking for a larger budget. Pickin's will be slim for under $250, maybe an ex-cop model 10 depending on what you can find locally. Surplus isn't the bargain it once was.

Re: milsurp revolvers - need recommendations
I got it on Gunbroker, and I think I paid $300. The seller was a LEO supply store in that seemed to be selling their trade-ins online. They had a bunch of used holsters for $20 ea. If you buy a Model 10 and want a vintage holster, call Standard Law Enforcement Supply in Roslyn Park, NY.
This is no beater, it's a beautiful, well-made gun.

You can check Southern Ohio Guns (SOG) for a number of different S&W surplus revolver offerings. They are typically not the cheapest but they tend to have them in stock.
