Re: Backyard Bucks I've seen in 2017
Very interesting as I have wondered what other hunters do with small patches of woods surrounded by residential homes. I own about 3 acres of woods that is part of 10 wooded acres. To the one side is roughly 5 acres of farmland, the other side adjoins a neighbors 100 acres of mostly woods and a pond. The 10 acres and the 100 acres only connect at a small corner of the lots.
The deer often use the 10 acres as a bedding area and a corridor from the farmland (food source) to the 100 acres of large woods. I see the heard almost on a daily basis (probably 10 does and a few bucks i get on camera) The owner of the 100 acres doesn't mind me hunting the upper edge of his property closest to my house/land.
Only problem is the neighbor between me and the 100 acres is totally anti hunting/ probably PETA member. So just like the OP i would be concerned to arrow one and have it drop in her back yard. If I did hunt I would almost be guaranteed a deer though......So for now i just enjoy watching them in my backyard and trail cams

Re: Backyard Bucks I've seen in 2017
I scared up 3 big 6 pointers an hour before dark last month. They nervously trotted out of the brush behind the nice grass I planted for them, and crossed the road. I haven't seen any of them since. I'm buying a cam, hopefully I can add pictures here.
I don't hunt but I have a big soybean field, a small radish patch, grass patch, wetland, stream, and thicket. I'm sure someone around me benefits from my raising them.. They just don't know who to thank haha.
I'm periodically thanked via a few stray beer bottles off the roadside and by some who dig tires in my yard to pee after dark. I swear if I get deer-cam pictures of pi$$ers or litterbugs I'm posting them.
Edit: added photo. Not 2017, but 2018. Potentially not 'buck' but I'll keep this post updated as he/she (they!) grow.

Edit 7-17-18 the pair continue to grow. Sisters I think. They ignore me on the tractor, but scuttle off when they see me on foot 200 yds away. A few more appear with them rarely
Last night I was varmint-scaring and I surprised one, she snorted very boldly and advanced on me in the starlight. I guess infrared doesn't intimidate them like it should.Last edited by 10Cent; July 17th, 2018 at 08:47 PM. Reason: Update

Re: Backyard Bucks I've seen in 2017
I put a new salt block out about a week ago and had a few back yard visitors.
I have 3 doe in one group. One with 2 young. They are regulars since last spring.
Another group of 3 had 3 doe and 2 button bucks.
This last group has 2 racked bucks and 2 buttons.
Not sure if the buttons are the same as the other herd.

There are other small bucks back there as well.
Next seasons prospects.Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.

3 17 2018 045.jpgHad my eye on this guy last year. Was hoping my 13 year old son would get him but wrestling season really put a dent in hunting time. Wish we had Sunday hunting.
